Privacy and AI Governance

Your privacy matters. She will propose legislation that gives everyone in the state the right to be forgotten and control over your digital footprint. Education for Everyone

Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed and access the educational resources they need. Federal cuts have already harmed our most vulnerable students, and it is vital that the state closes the funding gap so municipalities are not left to carry the burden.

Transparency through Records

As an experienced records manager, Krista knows the key to transparency in government is a robust records management program. She will drive policies that will modernize the state’s electronic records program and propose legislation that strengthens the recordkeeping requirements for the legislature.

About Krista

Krista has proudly called Princeton, Massachusetts home since 2014. A Boston-educated librarian and archivist, she grew up in Central Massachusetts and graduated from Shrewsbury High School before earning her bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She later received her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons University and has built a career dedicated to public service, transparency, and preserving the stories that shape our communities.

Throughout her professional life, Krista has worked in nonprofit research institutions focused on improving how information serves the public good. Her work has included developing policy recommendations on data-driven federal records management to strengthen transparency and government effectiveness. These findings have been presented at national conferences and shared with leaders at the National Archives and Records Administration. Krista also served as Chair of the Society of American Archivists Committee on Public Policy, where she worked with colleagues across the country to advocate for open government and responsible stewardship of public records.

Krista’s interest in public service began during her time at UMass Amherst, when she interned at the Massachusetts State House. While there, she witnessed State Representative Ellen Story help a constituent navigate complicated regulations to open a small salon. Seeing how a responsive elected official could cut through red tape and help someone achieve their dream left a lasting impression. That moment inspired Krista’s commitment to ensuring state government works for the people back home in Central Massachusetts.

Over the course of her career, Krista has served in a range of public-facing roles—from teaching in public schools to working as an archivist and information technology leader at major research institutions including MIT, Harvard, Tufts and the American Antiquarian . She has always believed that listening to people is the foundation of good leadership. As part of her professional work, she has conducted numerous oral history interviews, capturing the experiences of everyday people whose stories might otherwise be forgotten.

Today, Krista works as a Corporate Archivist at a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping government work better. In that role, she manages records and preserves the organization’s history while supporting strong information governance and cybersecurity practices. Her experience in records management, knowledge management, and data stewardship has given her a deep understanding of how transparent, accountable institutions can better serve the public while protecting personal privacy.

Krista and her husband, Michael Walsh, are raising their three daughters in the local school system. Since 2018, she has also served the community as a Trustee of the Goodnow Public Library. Rooted in rural Massachusetts and committed to practical solutions, Krista is ready to bring her experience, integrity, and dedication to effective, transparent governance.
